Bible Study for Adults

The stories of the Bible are the foundation of our faith; knowing them, contemplating their meaning for ourselves and discussing their significance for today with others who are searching to understand, is an important part of spiritual growth. At Dunbar we are always exploring the Bible together in creative ways.There have been three DISCIPLE courses at Dunbar. During the 34 weeks, DISCIPLE groups move through the Scriptures from Genesis to Revelation reading, discussing, praying about three-quarters of the Bible. The readings for each session follow the biblical story chronologically. Each participant makes a commitment to daily 30-45 minute-preparation of prayer, reading and reflection plus weekly attendance and participation in the group study session of 2 ½ hours. DISCIPLE calls on people to submit themselves to examination of Scripture, to put themselves in fellowship and in the power of God's word, and to be changed by their experience. |
