Children are an important part of worship at Dunbar Heights. They have their special place in the sanctuary with carpet, cushions, a table, crayons and pictures to work while still being part of worship.

Exploring the Word time is led by Rev. Michelle Slater or by Staff Associate Cathy Cryder. Whoever shows and tells the story knows each child by name, and there is time for each child to reflect on their place in the story. There's an active song, then children and young people go to classes where teachers trained in the techniques of Godly Play share stories of our faith.

Infants and toddlers have a nursery that is safe and filled with stimulating toys where a loving caregiver greets them. Parents can stay until toddlers are comfortable, but most are soon ready to share playtime and songs with Sandy, Joy and Spencer.

In a Godly Play classroom, teachers tell the stories of our faith
and children are encouraged to reflect and share.

Godly Play teachers and doorkeepers, parents, grandparents and children took part in a Covenant Service at the beginning of the new church school year. Teachers promised to God and the children to faithfully teach; children promised God, their teachers and each other to listen and learn; the congregation promised God and each other to support the church school with prayer and study.

All Ages services occur several times a year. Children and youth stay for a service planned by and participated in by youth and children and which engages them as well as adults in original ways of encountering God.
