DHUC THRIFT SALE Click here for pictures from our 2009 Fall Fair. The spring thrift sale is an opportunity for us to clean out our closets and storage spaces; to contribute to the financial resources of the church and spend a few hours working together and meeting folks from the community! Thanks to all who helped out and especially to Jill and Penny who organize this the stuff and the people.

The transformation takes place as volunteers set up tables, make signs and sort clothing and fabrics, toys and household items, electronics, jewelery and books, set things out and price them in preparation for Saturday morning. The range of items is amazing.


9:30: The doors opened and the crowds came in out of the rain. In minutes, they made their way around the tables looking for just the right bargain. Items ordinary and unique were picked up quickly.




As the crowd thins and sales slow, members have time to greet each other and chat. In the final minutes, shoppers pack up bargain boxes while members begin packing up boxes for social agencies we support.
Once the doors close, time for a little fun before the work of packing up begins. Unsold items are sorted for First United, St. Elizabeth's Home, Gather and Give and the Salvation Army.


The final tasks before hard-working volunteers can put their feet up is to clean up the gym. Only a few bags remain to be taken home for recycling.
