White, the colour of light and a reminder of the light Christ brings to the world, is the liturgical colour of Christmas and Epiphany and Baptism of Jesus Sunday.

We celebrated Jesus' Baptism in an All Ages Service
at Dunbar Heights on January 10th, 2010.

The message, enacted by a sculptor using people as clay, told the story
You are Special, by Max Lucado. It's the story of a community of small wooden Wemmecks carved by master carver, Eli.

Our sculptor, Cathy, shapes the characters as the story is read.

"Every day the Wemmicks do the same thing: stick either gold stars or gray dots on one another. The pretty ones—those with smooth wood and fine paint—always get stars. The talented ones do, too. Others, though, who can do little or who have chipped paint, get ugly gray dots."
Punchinello was the most shy, the most awkward—he got the most grey dots.

Then one day he met someone wonderful; no dots stuck on her; no stars stuck either. Why was she different? "I go to see Eli every day," she told Punchinello.

Punchinello finally got the courage to go to see Eli,
"It doesn't matter what any other Wemmeck thinks of you, Punchinello. You only need to know that you are special to me.
As soon as he believed that, the ugly grey dots began to fall from Punchinello.

Following the story, every member of the congregation fills out a small sticker they received as they arrived. It said: "A place for..." and on the line, each person writes their name.
Children collect the stickers which all find places at the table of Jesus.
The elements of Communion are blessed by
Leenane and retired minister Ray McColl.
