Pentecost Sunday

Linnea Good, composer and performer of church music led our Pentecost service with music of her own and from the rich resources of Voices United and More Voices.
After the Prelude and the invitation to worship, our Christ candle is lit to remind us that Christ is with us through the power of the Holy Spirit.
Linnea Good, composer and worship leader.    We live in the light of Christ.
Even We were already enlived by music, when more life was breathed into worship as balloons we tossed from person to person.
Cathy started by filling a balloon; then they all burst from the box... ...and were passed from person to person, just as the spirit moves.
People were having fun but we finally collected the balloons, put them in the box thinking we could bring they out whenever we needed an injection of 'spirit'. But the balloons refused to say boxed up and they burst forth and sailed toward the ceiling.
Collect them; box them up so we can get them when we need more spirit.       ...But the Holy Spirit won't stay boxed up!

Red is the colour of Pentecost Sunday, the colour of the the flames that brought the Holy Spirit upon the first Disciples and that ignited the spirit in us today.
For a more complete look at the worship life at Dunbar, go to these pages: Children in worship, All Ages services. Worship at Dunbar Heights is inspirational and challenging preaching, spirited singing, a welcome and stories for the youngest children, and questions for inquiring youth, all in a traditional sanctuary.

You are welcome to come dressed comfortably in jeans and runners or more formal attire. Come as you like; our worship is welcoming and joyful.

Service begins at 10:00 am in the sanctuary. Children remain with their parents until theme time, then go to classes with creative, dedicated teachers trained in the story-telling style of Godly Play. Sermons and Scripture follow the Revised Common Lectionary or themes chosen by the minister; the Sacrament of Holy Communion is practiced monthly; All Ages services are scheduled throughout the year; Baptism of infants and adults is offered as requested.
