Pentecost Sunday 2011, the birth of the Christian church came, by wonderful coincidence, on the anniversary of the birth of the United church of Canada.

Rev. Michelle explored those two themes with the children, talking about the action of the Holy Spirit in the early days of the church and in the formation of the United Church of Canada. She talked about what each congregation: the Methodists, Presbyterians and Congregationalists brought to the union.

And why would a Pentecost reflection be called "Wild Goose Chase"?

Red is the colour of Pentecost Sunday, the colour of the the flames that brought the Holy Spirit upon the first Disciples and that ignites the spirit in us today.
For a more omplete look at the worship life at Dunbar, go to these pages: Worship, Children in worship, All Ages services.

Sunday Worship at Dunbar Heights is inspirational and challenging preaching, spirited singing, a welcome and stories for the youngest children, and questions for inquiring youth, all in a traditional sanctuary.

You are welcome to come dressed comfortably in jeans and runners or more formal attire. Come as you like; our worship is welcoming and joyful.

Service begins at 10:00 am in the sanctuary. Children remain with their parents until theme time, then go to classes with creative, dedicated teachers trained in the story-telling style of Godly Play. Sermons and Scripture follow the Revised Common Lectionary or themes chosen by the minister; the Sacrament of Holy Communion is practiced monthly; All Ages services are scheduled throughout the year; Baptism of infants and adults is offered as requested.
